Use of the Directory
This directory has been complied to assist health care professionals
in locating cardiovascular and pulmonary rehabilitation programs
available within geographical areas of the state. We encourage
patients to contact programs available in their areas and choose
the one that meets their particular needs. The state of Massachusetts
has mandated insurance carriers to provide a benefit for Cardiac
Rehabilitation. However, because of variations among
insurers, patients should call their health insurance providers
to discuss the terms of benefits available to them.
Cardiac Rehabilitation is intended to assist
persons with heart disease to adjust to their illness and restore
them to their optimal state of well-being. If individuals
have any of the following conditions, they may be candidates
for cardiac rehabilitation:
- Heart Disease (Coronary Artery Disease,
Stable Angina)
- Heart Attack (Myocardial Infarction)
- Cardiac Surgery (Coronary Artery Bypass
Graft – (CABG)
- Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty
(PTCA)
- Atherectomy
- Stent Placement
Pulmonary Rehabilitation is intended to assist
persons with lung disease to adjust to their illness, and to
restore them to their optimal state of well-being. If individuals
have any of the following conditions, they may be candidates
for pulmonary rehabilitation:
- Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
- Emphysema
- Chronic Bronchitis
- Asthma
